Enemy Territory: Quake Wars tells us a similar tale. At resolutions of 1,920x1,200 or lower, the £185 Radeon HD 4870 provides adequate frame rates and BFG's GeForce GTX 260 OCX MAXCORE at £257 looks far more tempting than the Radeon HD 4850 X2.

Raise the resolution once again and you'll see that the Radeon HD 4850 X2 is at its best when pushed hard.
