Gaming

Gaming is an area where AMD's Athlon 64s have been significantly faster than Intel's range of Prescotts.

Again, note the erratic pattern of Intel-based results. Core and memory differences play a large part in determining performance. What's worrying is that only a 3.46GHz Extreme Edition is able to outbenchmark a 2GHz Athlon 64. 21842 marks isn't bad in isolation, but it is poor in comparison.

Another set of topsy-turvy results from Intel. What's clear is that if we exclude the Ā£700 Extreme Edition, Prescotts aren't really threatening AMD's gaming dominance.

A factor that's substantiated by our system-bound UT2003 botmatch results.

Even DOOM 3, run at 1024x768 High Quality, runs better on AMD hardware.
