The Barton has always been more than reasonable in gaming-related tasks, often matching a similar Pentium 4.Jumping right into second place, behind the gaming goliath that is the Athlon 64. 375MHz extra clock speed and DRAM that's running 32MHz faster (432MHz vs. 400MHz) still cannot overcome the Athlon 64 Model 3000+'s on-die memory controller and cache enhancements. A breakdown of the overclocked Barton's scores can be found here.
It's difficult to visually distinguish between the performance of the overclocked Barton, Athlon 64 3000+, and Pentium 4 3.0GHz.
Ditto here. The compelling performance reasons for upgrading from, say, an nForce2 Ultra board to the nForce3 and Athlon 64 seem a little less compelling with a decent Barton in the socket.
