With rendering and encoding, you get quite a boost by overclocking the processor from 2.66GHz to 3.2GHz. The Cinebench score increased by 18 per cent, DivX encoding by 17 per cent, and Pov-ray by 20 per cent. From a 20 per cent overclock, you’re receiving almost the full benefit of the extra clock cylces.

To give you some practical reference for the speed of Pov-ray rendering on a 3.2GHz Core 2 Extreme QX6700 - think about this - it's precisely 10x (yes, 10 times) faster than an Athlon 64 3000+.

Our Quake 4 frame test at 1,024 x 768 also received a small boost, although not by anywhere near as much.
