Benchmarks: Power Consumption
Intel's Pentium has proven to be a more than capable performer, but while it's faster than the similarly-priced Athlon, there is a disparity between each chip's power consumption. The 25W Athlon 5350-based system draws roughly half as much power as the 53W Pentium machine, and is better suited to passively-cooled, small-form-factor builds. Though, with a reasonably-sized heatsink, passive cooling on the G3220 isn't outside the realms of possibility.
This low-power space is gaining in popularity, and readers will note that Intel currently has no socketed chip to directly compete with the 25W Athlon.
