Gaming

Moving on over to gaming now. Starting off with 3DMark05's default test.

A standard ATI Radeon X1800 XL 256MB PCIe card was used for gaming tests. We see a reasonable spread of results in what was once considered to be a wholly GPU-limited test. The 4.27GHz-clocked Presler leads the way here, almost 500 marks higher than an E.E. 840.

Extra L2 cache makes the E.E 955 competitive in our basic gaming tests. Wouldn't it have been nice if Intel had debuted its 65nm technology at, say, 3.73GHz. If our air-cooled overclock is anything to go by, it would have been a cinch to accomplish.
