Multi-threaded performance: video-encoding, image editing, file compression

Load the cores with some significant work and the different cores/threads on the chips come into play. The SMART's performance is 26.7 per cent faster than the stock-clocked Core i3 530's, and puts it at the same kind of speed as a quad-core Phenom II X4 945.

The dual-core, quad-threaded chip finds it tough going against more-expensive quad-core models, but performance is decent enough for everyday tasks.

Overclocked performance remains just shy of Phenom II X4 945 and the Turbo Boost-enabled Core i5 750 - both chips that do without integrated graphics.
