Here's the graph you've seen before, detailing the DivX-encoding results. Nothing new here.

But now we've added a 1080p QuickTime clip into the fray, being rendered at the same time. What we're seeing here is how much the DivX encoding time is being compromised by the additional computational load presented by running the high-resolution clip on a looping basis.
Every processor takes a touch longer, but the rule is simple: quad-core chips do better here than triple-core which do better than dual-core. There's extra processing power in reserve.

Here's the same test but with the high-resolution Enemy Territory: Quake Wars running, looped, in the foreground. The observation, above, is reinforced in this benchmark.

All CPUs provide a decent-enough frame-rate average with DivX running in the background. However, watching the game run through the scripted benchmark the quad-core X4 810 produced smooth rendering whilst the X3 720 was also fast but slightly jerky. The Intel E8400, on the other hand, was clearly slower and very jerky, which isn't inferred from looking at just the results.
