Overclocking Tests

We chose to overclock manually by raising the all-core multiplier in concert with 1.35V on the juice, up from the default 1.2V. Like the oft-compared chip, Core i9-10850K managed a rock-steady 5.1GHz across its ten cores.

23 seconds is lopped off the all-core rendering time, but even high frequency cannot make up the two-core, four-thread shortfall compared to Ryzen 9 3900X(T).

We've become accustomed to saying there isn't much mileage in manually overclocking processors when the automatic per-core boosting does a fine job of extracting most of the potential without introducing instability. Running at stock speeds remains the way to go unless you have crazy cooling in the rig.
