Overclocking
Intel's Turbo Boost technology is more aggressive on this generation than the last, running up all the way to 4.5GHz on select cores. That said, the chip does scale further with some additional voltage, and we used just 1.25V to manage an all-core 4.8GHz. If you are interested, temperature reached 80°C with the Noctua NH-D15S, or well within operating parameters. Knocking up the voltage to 1.3V caused heat to be the limiting issue with this premium air cooler.
Cranking up the speed isn't enough for it to surpass the stock-clocked performance of the Core i9-7900X, but it's a mighty fast chip nonetheless.
