Let's compare financial like for like, shall we? Ryzen 5 1600X costs about the same as a Core i5-7600K. Adding in feature-equivalent platforms also leads to comparable cost. The AMD chip has the beating of the Intel one in each Futuremark test. Ryzen 5 1500X is competent, too.
