Performance

Deepcool's twin-tower, dual-fan solution clearly has no problem taming an overclocked Core i7-4770K processor, but given the size of the heatsink we're surprised to see core temp spill over 60ºC. We removed the cooler and re-seated it with fresh thermal paste a couple of times, but performance remained consistent, with Assassin II slotting in just behind Noctua's NH-D15.

Assassin II isn't the best-performing solution on show as far as temperatures are concerned - the liquid coolers lead the pack - but on the flip side it is one of the quietest. You can't hear it over our test platform's other fans when the system is idle and it barely gets any louder under full load. Noise levels are lovely and low, yet once again the pesky Noctua has the edge.
