Benchmarks
A few benchmarks to see what 2.8GHz buys you over 2.2GHz. While not really testing the LightSpeed as such, it serves to highlight what phase-change can buy you in terms of extra speed. With FX-53 (Socket 940 and 939) and Model 3800+ all returning scores in the low 50s, the pseudo FX-57 shows anything commercially available a clean pair of heels, 3.4GHz Extreme Edition P4 most definitely included.
The CPU speed increase allows 3DMark2001 SE to scale very well, 27300 a quite silly score with a stock graphics card.
The 2.8GHz FX rips through the SETI benchmark in under 1.5 hours, the processor able to chew through units at a scary rate. With an RC5-72 score of over 10.5Mkey/sec, it's a distributed computing users ideal platform.
