Benchmarks II
A Radeon 9800 Pro, when run at 1024x768x32 with no AA or AF, clearly puts the focus of attention on to the subsystem. That's why we expect to find large benchmark differences in subsystems of vastly different speeds. 3DMark 2001SE v330 kicks it off.
Add a touch more CPU voltage, raise the FSB to 212MHz and collect an extra 2659 points. Easy, huh ?. If you want a breakdown of the XP2500's scores, head here for the standard 1837MHz benchmark and here for the overclocked tests. Notice just how much gain is had on the lobby tests.
A new benchmark now. X2:The Threat is a lovely-looking DirectX benchmark that's based on an upcoming game. Fantastic visuals and consistent results make it an ideal test. The benchmarking resolution has been dropped to 800x600x32.
It's a little more card limited than some older games. However, it still shows reasonable increases with faster CPUs. A 27% clock speed increase manifests itself as a 16% benchmark performance raise. The results would converge as the resolution was raised, though.
Likewise, Comanche 4 shows a decent performance increase. In fact, it's linear.
