Xigmatek Achilles S1284C - installation and performance

Installation

Push-pin installation is, of course, easier than having to use a retention mechanism. Installing the Achilles S1284C is as easy as it gets - but we would recommend attaching the fan after the cooler is fitted to your motherboard, that'll give you more room to reach the push pins.

Performance

Xigmatek Achilles S1284C - Thermal Performance
System state Idle Load
Ambient temperature 22.9°C 23.7°C
Case temperature 24.9°C 25.6°C
Ambient/Case delta 2.0°C 1.9°C
CPU temperature 38.0°C 56.0°C
CPU/Case delta 13.1°C 30.4°C
CPU/Ambient delta 15.1°C 32.3°C

The latest implementation of HDT, it seems, works. The Xigmatek Achilles S1284C's temperatures are decent, if not groundbreaking.

With each of the three coolers offering decent performance, we're starting to wonder if there's really much of a difference between the swarm of third-party coolers out on the market. Let's put the thermal results head-to-head to see who comes out on top.
