Gaming
Gaming, though, doesn't benefit much, if at all, from multi-core CPUs. I'd expect the overclocked Venice-based Athlon 64 3000+ to post some impressive results.Sheer clock speed is just enough to overcome the Athlon 64 FX-55's extra 512KB of L2 cache in 3DMark2001SE's default test. A breakdown of the chart-topping score can be found here.
The red bar continues to dominate.
Far Cry is benchmarked with sound disabled. The overclocked '3000+ is over 40% faster than a stock Intel Pentium XE 840. Not bad for a CPU that costs around 15% of its asking price.
