External Appearance – Front
The front of the SG-03 is a mix of aluminium plates and mesh. Behind the mesh is room for two 120mm fans, though SilverStone only provide a single fan as standard. One thing to love about the front of the SG-03 is the clean lines. There isn't a single button in sight. In fact, the only thing spoiling the look from the front is a small hole on the right-hand side.
There's room for a single 5.25in external drive – an aluminium blanking-plate covers the space where the drive would go.
Front access to the case is simple – just pull back the two flaps. Clever, huh? The right-hand flap hides LEDs for power and system activity – and each is bright enough to be seen through that small hole we mentioned.
Above the LEDs is a non-descript reset button – so non-descript that it's not even labelled!
At front left, is access to a 3.5in bay that could contain a floppy drive or a media reader - or both if you get one of those fancy new combi units. Above that is a single FireWire port, plus a couple of audio sockets and a pair of USB ports.
Some users will of course complain that the ports are behind a flap and not easily accessible. Others will feel, like me, that clean good looks are more important and that cables should be plugged in around the back, not hung off the front.
Oh, and as you can see, there is a power button – located, rather unusually (and quite practically) up top.
