System Intelligent Management (SIM)

SIM is Ikonik's version of a fan controller, and it's a very useful all-in-one solution.

The SIM unit itself, pictured above, is housed on the left side of the 5.25in drive bays and kept out of sight when the chassis' side panels are in place. The version of SIM included in the Zaria A20 allows for four three-pin fans to be connected, and the chassis' three built-in fans are already wired up. What's useful, is that Ikonik includes a fan extension cable to allow users to easily attach the fourth-and-final fan.

The unit is powered by a single Molex connector and provides connectivity for four thermal sensors. Wire it all up, and what you get is a software-controlled system that provides comprehensive regulation of the chassis' cooling ability.

With the SIM software installed, the chassis' LED lights can be turned on/off at the click of a button, and each of the possible four fans can be configured to activate when certain areas of the chassis reach a certain temperature. For example, a thermal sensor housed on the CPU could be configured to activate a specific fan should CPU temperature rise above a pre-defined amount.

The configuration options are endless, and Ikonik includes four basic modes to get users started - performance, silent, 0dB start and fanless.

It's an impressive solution, but how well does it cool?
