Version 2 of Elgato's rather wonderful TV-tuner program for Macs, EyeTV, which we raved about when reviewing the Mac mini Core Duo, has been updated to add support for the Apple TV network media player.
The free update to V2.4 - a 37.1MByte download - is a universal app that's reckoned to contain a whole bunch of bug fixes and new features, notably one-click export to convert video into files suitable for playback via Apple TV. This conversion process can even be automated for scheduled recordings.
Among other new goodies is support for Apple's Spotlight search technology - making it far easier to locate recordings and without even needing to open EyeTV itself.
EyeTV's programme guide has been enhanced, too, with more detailed info available when using the tvtv listings service, along with graphical confirmation of what broadcasts have been selected for recording.
Two further USB digital-terrestrial stick tuners are supported in V2.4- the twin-tuner Hauppauge's WinTV Nova-TD antenna-diversity model and TerraTec's Cinergy T XE.
Multiple monitors are said to be better catered for as well and the EyeTV handset is now able to put a Mac into standby mode in the same way as Apple's own remote handset.
Seemingly, a great app just got even better!
