The skeptics among you looking toward the launch of Windows Vista will no doubt have something to say about the price of it when it hits the shelves. It turns out, however, that Microsoft could be making a surprising move when it comes to pricing of their up-coming OS.
According to Vista Knowledge, retail Vista boxes could cost as little as $99 and OEMs will of course get it cheaper still.
Microsoft have a big problem with piracy of their current OS, Windows XP. Despite the activation and genuine software protections they have devised, anybody semi-technical can obtain a dodgy copy of Windows XP and use it freely. The Redmond firm looks to be aiming for a more appealing price tag.
It'll be a while before we know for sure what the prices will be come launch day, but this could be good news for both customers and Microsoft.
