The Universal 3-D Project has been formed for several years and has the aim to bring 3-D images to mainstream applications.
This will work by creating and deploying a single format which allows the applications to share the 3D data.
Intel is driving to create this 3D version of the "JPEG" file format, and they have created a 3D Industry Forum - 3DIF.org. There has already been some major milestones for the project and many more to come.
HEXUS is excited about this potential new 3D communication media.
