Microsoft has today released the latest version of its Messenger application for Mac users, Messenger 7.

Microsoft' Mactopia website described the latest release as "an integrated communications client that enables you to communicate with contacts within and outside your organisation."

"Messenger for Mac 7 is a Universal application that is built to run on both PowerPC-based and Intel-based Macs and makes it easy to take advantage of the full power of real-time communications."

For corporate users, a combination pf Messenger 7 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 provides audio and video functionality - a first for Messenger on Mac.

For personal users with a Windows Live account, Messenger 7 allows customisation of your contact list, letting you assign nicknames to your contacts. There's Bonjour integration, providing the ability to detect other Messenger for Mac users that are near your location. Sadly, there's still a lack of video support for users without Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, Mac users may have to wait until Messenger 8 for that.

… and sadly it lacks anything ‘special’ Adium still seems to be the better option :(
Adium doesn't have webcam support (?)
Good point - sorry I am not in to that cybar stuff :p
:P Adium is a mixed bag. I use it because it supports Jabber (So i can use googletalk) and msn. I'll be giving MSN7 a try though, to see what its like!
No custom emotes in Adium is a real pain (ie for some of the ones i steal from hexus ) and also i prefer the message window in msn, is there any way to change the way messages are shown - like top to bottom instead of the bottom to top default?
