Made of aluminium, the SilentFlux media weighs in at just 300g yet it produces just 29dB under load for 115 watts of power.
The coolers are manufactured by BEHR Industry, who make similar products for the motor industry. The unit is assembled in a brace with all the components and then baked to form the finished cooler which is then tested with helium for leakages before being filled and sealed.
Whilst a phase change cooler is nothing new, the SilentFlux media cooler differs from others on the market with the way it moves the liquid around the cooler itself. Most phase change coolers rely on convection and gravity to move heat to the cooling fins.
The SilentFlux media cooler is different in that a patented system shifts the liquid around the cooler in one direction only, allowing for more efficient cooling of the liquid itself before it returns to the block which in turn gives more efficient cooling of the CPU.
With such effective cooling, the SilentFlux media at idle has a noise level of 19dB, 22dB under normal load and just 28.5 dB under stress. This make the SilentFlux media ideal for media systems, which is why they cool the new AMD media box.
The media cooler is only 60mm high and will fit into 80mm high media centres and is compatible with most motherboards. Rather than make several different coolers for specific sockets and motherboards, the mounting clips are made to adapt the cooler to the board.
