AMD to bundle Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon with A10 APUs
More value for AMD APUs
Chip company AMD has been actively pursuing means by which to offer more value for its range of Radeon GPUs and A-series APUs. Select Radeons are eligible for the company's Never Settle Reloaded program, where a number of high-profile games are provided for free via redeemable codes.
AMD has since extended this sought-after bundling to its range of Accelerated Processing Units (APUs). In April 2013, AMD bundled Sim City with select desktop A-series APUs, specifically the A8-5500, A8-5600K, A10-5700 and A10-5800K. The bundle was clearly keen on value, as the £40 game was provided with APUs retailing from just £60.
Now, however, AMD is offering potential consumers even more value by providing a copy of the impressive Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, which is a standalone expansion to the popularly-acclaimed Far Cry 3 game released in November 2012. Blood Dragon is a well-received addition to the Far Cry 3 family, most commentators agree, and the game doesn't require the original to be purchased separately.
Appreciating that AMD's top-level APUs have robust-enough graphics to easily handle a games engine as strenuous as Far Cry 3 run at a Full-HD quality setting (1080p) and with DX11 graphics goodness in tow, AMD is bundling the game with the A10 Elite Quad-Core APUs for a limited time.
The desktop A10-6800K, A10-6700, A10-5800K and A10-5700 APUS are all eligible for the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon game code, as well as any mobile A10 APU, though any valid chip needs to be purchased through authorised retailers. The promotion begins on July 15, 2013 and runs through to December 31, 2013. The game is downloaded via promotional keys that must be redeemed by January 31, 2014.
Hardware is nothing without appropriate software to show off its talents. AMD's impressive bundling efforts are therefore a welcome addition to its newest A-series APUs.
