iPhone 4S lauches on October 14th
With iPhone 4S preorders reportedly going through the roof, and shipping dates already pushed beyond the official launch date for many people, it’s clear that Apple devotees are extremely keen to get their mitts on the latest super-smartphone.And, with service providers hoping you’ll take a punt with them when you pick up your shiny new phone, there are already plenty of decent deals around.
SIM-free iPhone 4S
By far the cheapest way to enjoy the iPhone 4S is without a SIM, so get camping now outside one of the Apple Stores and you may just be in luck for launch day on October 14th. Apple has set the SIM-free price for the entry-level model (16GB) at £499. You’re not going to pick it up cheaper than that on launch day, but there are some decent deals out there if you’ve got the cash upfront and are willing to hunt around for a decent package with a service provider.
You can preorder the SIM-free iPhone 4S now direct from the Apple Store, just don’t expect to get it on launch day.
Snagging a good deal obviously depends on your usage and what you’re looking to get out of your iPhone 4S, but one of the best non-contract deals around at the moment is from giffgaff, who uses the O2 network and offers unlimited data on most of its packages and no fixed contracts. GiffGaff hardly advertises its service and it doesn’t have a call centre, but, instead, uses its forums for customer-service queries. That means it's able to pass some of the savings onto customers.
