Modify your weapon of choice

The Pariah armoury is pretty versatile, giving you a range of options for despatching the bad guys. You start off with a melee weapon in the form of a bonesaw (you are a doctor after all), but you very quickly get the standard machine gun called the Bulldog. From there you pick up a grenade launcher, a plasma rifle, sniper rifle and rocket launcher.

Each of these is upgradeable up to three times and the choice is totally up to you as to which you upgrade first and by how far. You do this by picking up things called Weapons Energy Cores, or WECS. You then use these to enhance your chosen weapon to give it various upgrades, eventually making it much more formidable than the vanilla version you first come into possession of. A fully upgraded grenade launcher is something to be feared indeed as it can be arced into the air magnetically attracting shrapnel, adheres to your target and is then detonated when you want… excellent for a clearing a room of bad guys.

One of the most important ‘weapons’ you have is your health kit, which is upgradeable to be more effective and work faster. The health system in Pariah works the same as in Halo, with four bars that get slowly eroded from hits you take during combat. Lose a little off a bar and it’ll shortly regenerate itself. Lose it completely though and you’ll have to use the medikit to get it back. Swapping away from an offensive weapon to heal yourself up makes combat more of a tactical affair, as you’ll either have to leg it away from the fight or take cover and give yourself a quick shot to tide you over before taking the bad guys on again.
