Ride on the back on a Mongoose
The new weapons, vehicles and equipment have helped no end in enhancing the fun factor in Halo 3, giving you an unprecedented amount of ways in which to play the game. Amongst the new weapons on offer you'll find the gravity hammer, allowing you to pummel multiple opponents high into the air and the powerful Spartan laser with which you can blow turrets or indeed enemies into smithereens. There's also the welcome return to some familiar vehicles, such as the Warthog, the Banshee, the Ghost and the Wraith, but the new additions such as the speedy Mongoose, which resembles a quad-bike allowing you to cover large expanses of ground quickly, and the superb Hornet (air vehicle), with its guided rockets ideal for taking out some of the larger enemy vehicles you'll encounter, really steal the show. The switching between vehicles and on-foot combat is what prevents the battles in the outside environments in the game from becoming repetitive and is just one of the reasons why Halo 3 stands out from many games in the same genre.
The new equipment helps to push tactical play in Halo 3 further than we experienced in Halo 2(even more so in multiplayer). There are a number of items lying around which often prove to be a lifeline, such as bubble shields, auto turrets, deployable cover and radar jammers, which can send Brutes and Grunts into a complete panic.
Knowing which firearms and equipment are effective against specific enemies is extremely important the further you progress and Halo 3 does a great job at introducing you to them early on, and in circumstances where you get a chance to test them out without any major challenge. Halo 3 has a good balance to the gameplay, increasing slowly in difficulty,so that in the later levels you will need the skill and knowledge of the weapons in order to complete a successful campaign. The weapons and equipment in Halo 3 are easy to get accustomed to, visually impressive to watch and see the impact they have on the enemy and, most importantly, fun to use.
