Does it deserve full marks?
The presentation throughout Guitar Hero II is faultless. Menus are tidy and easy to navigate and the whole game has a unique and artistic scribbled notepad-like look about it. In game everything is clear and easy to understand with big, bright markers leaving the player with no confusion about what they are supposed to press, while the graphical quality of the band and the surrounding environment has been enhanced sufficiently to comply with next-gen standards.
Before I wrap up this review, I would like to make a point about the extra downloadable content that is currently available and the new content that will undoubtedly appear over the coming months. Red Octane know how good this game is, but charging games 500 Microsoft points(4.25) for packs that only contain three tracks is daylight robbery. I understand that there are licenses to pay, but when the game already costs a mammoth £69.99 then surely they're making enough profit to keep the costs a bit lower for future downloadable content. Rant over!
The Guitar Hero franchise doesn't need to be hyped by the PR staff at Activision; gamers are doing the work for them. Take a look at any review of Guitar Hero II or ask anyone who's played it and you'll be pushed to find someone who has got a bad word to say. Guitar Hero II is a musical masterpiece of a videogame that allows everyone who wants to, to experience what it must be like to be a Rock God. It's the best game of it's genre, ever.
