Become a master of your art
Despite this fact, combat is much more fluent that previous Morrowind instalments. There are two kinds of weapons, swords and maces, and bows. Attacking an opponent is simple, as you’ll often only need the use of the ‘Right Trigger’. For a quick attack press down the trigger, for a power attack hold down the trigger for a bit longer.
The more you use certain weapons, the more your skill for that weapon type will increase. Once you reach certain levels of weapon mastery you’ll unlock attributes that help you become more adept at fighting. For example, if you master Blade techniques then you’ll unlock a Forward Power Attack that enables you to paralyse an opponent.
These mastery levels in different combat skills ensure that you’ll never want to stick with the same weapon, you’ll want to combine all the skills, such as blocking and hand to hand combat, to increase, which ultimately help you to level up.
The condition of all your weapons will diminish over time, but can be repaired at the armouries or by yourself through using a repair hammer. This is not only a quick fix when you’re too far away to get to an armoury, but it also increases your armoury skills in the process.
Combat can be halted at any point during a fight, enabling you to switch weapons, take a breather, drink a potion, or assign a potion to your weapon.
Of course, you’ll also suffer damage, Your current health status is measured by three bars, health, magika and fatigue. Eating and drinking food or potions can replenish health and magika, whereas fatigue can be replenished by either of these things or will just replenish itself naturally.
