Toy Story 3 offers an impressive sandbox area to explore that captures the Toy Story universe with some style. It’s so visually close to the Toy Story films that it feels like you’ve jumped right into that cinema screen and morphed straight into the bodies of your favourite characters. You’re given an intricately designed, Pixar-colourful, open-world to explore where you roam around familiar locations from the movie and pick up missions from various characters, while exploring the likes of Andy's Room for hidden items to swell your growing mass of collectibles.Toy Story 3 is essentially a platform game with collectibles to pilfer everywhere you turn and a world which is littered with mini-games that play to the strengths of its characters very well, with some funny and entertaining moments to enjoy throughout. The dozens of creatively imagined scenarios, which generally involve exploring, collecting and fetching items, are entertaining more often than not and there's a varied set of objectives that keep you on your toes.
Whether you’re carving the faces of your favourite characters by throwing dynamite at a mountain, or trying to win a way-point race on your trusty steed, Bullseye, there's a lot of fun to be had out of interacting with the Toy Story characters and some amusing moments to sit back and enjoy. Like the film, this is pure family entertainment. There's also an addictive reward system that runs through the heart of the game so it's very easy to get totally drawn in with the amount of unlockables you can get and all the collectibles there are to find. And, just as Pixar has let its imagination run riot in the film, you to are given an impressive set of tools to customise every aspect of the game world. At its most basic level, Toy Story 3 is a simple, albeit very entertaining, platform game. At another level, it offers an experience very few games do - the ability to alter your experience in a thousand different ways and then share your newly created world with a co-op team-mate.
