The Beatles it ain't
If you're a big Green Day fan the chances are your decision whether to purchase the game or not will be based on the track-list. In that respect, it doesn't disappoint, delivering 47 tracks from the three albums previously mentioned and a few tracks from "Warning","Minority" and "Nimrod." The fact that you can access all of the songs immediately rather than having to unlock them may appeal to those who want to get straight on and play their favourite tracks, but it also means it lacks the well paced narrative progression that we enjoyed in The Beatles: Rock Band. The Beatles: Rock Band really set the bar for any band-specfic game that followed it, showing us just how well it can be done if you pay attention to the detail. Aside from seeing Green Day on stage though and enjoying the great atmosphere of the heaving Fox Theatre venue there's little to make you feel that you're playing anything other than a glorified, albeit extensive, track pack. Nevertheless, Green Day: Rock Band is still a joy to play thanks to the familiarly enjoyable gameplay, so fans of the group should still revel in the fact that they'll get to play some of the groups greatest tracks.
