Finally found our way home
Lost: The Videogame does have a couple more tricks up its sleeve. Orientation is a theme that runs throughout the series and there's a fair bit of that in the game as you use a compass to navigate your way through the forest, whilst avoiding gun-fire from the 'Others' and jumping into hiding spots to escape the 'Black smoke'.The gunplay in the game unfortunately lacks any challenge. Bullets come whizzing past you in the forest, yet you can't see where they're coming from and when you do see the 'Others' the AI is so poor that you'll take them down without much of a fight; it will take them three shots to bring you to your knees and by that point you would have downed them. Gunplay and exploration in general is hampered by the rigid and restricted moves of the main character who lumbers around the locations finding it difficult to pass through doorways without bumping into walls and who has the turning circle of a JCB.
In some respects, I've enjoyed playing LOST: The Videogame. Sadly though, this is not because I've enjoyed the actual game-play. In truth, it has really infuriated me at times. I've enjoyed the subject matter because I'm a fan of the show. I've enjoyed visiting the locations and meeting some of the characters within the virtual world and I've enjoyed the story-line of the new character. In that respect, fans will probably get some satisfaction out of venturing into its world, but all others would be advised to steer well clear.
Pros
The closest you'll get to exploring the LOST universe
New character adds to LOST storyline, which fans will enjoy
Looks pretty nice
Cons
Too many fuse puzzles
Character moves like a robot
Flashback mini-game poorly executed
Shooting segments are a waste of space
Exploring familiar locations and listening to the relevant storyline will be the biggest draw for LOST fans in an otherwise weak adventure.
