Are you as quick as Dwain Chambers...on drugs?

The swimming events for instance are extremely well thought out and provide a fun, yet challenging race. The breaststroke requires you to move both controllers forward in semi-circles simultaneously using the B button to turn, whereas backstroke requires you perform tough back-pedaling motions.

Running is handled in the same way as many Wii games, requiring you to alternatively swing your Wii-Remote and Nunchuck up and down as fast as possible, but some movement is controlled by testing your rhythm and skill.

A prime example of this is the diving events, which is more about timing than power or speed. A gauge appears on the screen and you simply swing the Nunchuck and Wii remote down every time the ball passes the circle in the middle of the display to gain power and then swing down either controller according to the symbols that appear on the guage as your heading down to the pool. The diver is shown in slow motion and you can see where you make mistakes by the reactions of the athelete as he awkwardly splashes down with the grace of a hippopotamus.

There are plenty of other intuitive events that mimic the sports well, such as ‘Hammer throw’ where you need to swing the Wii-Remote around your head like a lasso and ‘Discus’ where you swing the Wii Remote to and fro (like a Discus) to gain momentum and then press ‘B’ to throw.
