Worms 4: Mayhem - PS2

We could have gone for the “Nick Haywood’s got worms!” gag, but seeing as he has, we thought it’d be a sore point…

Right, hands up who hasn’t heard of Worms? No-one? Good, that’s going to save some time. But just in case any of you felt too shy to admit to not having even heard of them, I’ll give you a brief summary. Way, way, way back in the days of yore, a little game called Worms appeared which took turn based combat into new realms with super-sadistic weaponry, bags of humour and gameplay that was to die for.

Needless to say, this side-on, 2D fun fest spawned many an update before making the jump to 3D where it received mixed reviews. It has to be said that the Worms games must surely be one of the most successful and enduring franchises out there as they have crossed onto nearly every platform going… I even have a copy on my PDA for those dull train journeys! So anyway, let’s come up to date with Worms 4: Mayhem, the latest effort from the Codemasters. Is it a case of Holy Hand Grenade or more of a dud mine? Read on and see.
