Which version do we prefer?
The Wii version certainly looks the better in widescreen and 480p progressive scan display, but due to the smaller screen of the DS version it means the action is easier on the eye and I was therefore able to play it longer without having to take a break from the flashing and bright eye-aching visuals of the Wii version. The levels in both the Wii and DS versions of Geometry Wars Galaxies are identical and both offer the same addictive gameplay, but it’s the DS version that I favour. Not only does it mean that you can play it on the move, but the stylus is far more intuitive to use than the Wii-mote and offers a better gaming experience (though if you own a classic controller you’ll still have a great time).
Both versions are still well worth a look and it’s worth pointing out again that the Wii version may be the better value for money because you can download Geometry Wars Retro Evolved for free on your DS, but whatever you decide, Geometry Wars Galaxies on both Wii and DS is an addictive shooter that you'll find hard to put down.
Pros
Classic arcade shooting at its best
Great range of enemies
Addictive, flowing gameplay
Translates perfectly to DS controls
Leaderboard functionality
Wii and DS communication
Cons
Using the gamepad is better than the Wii-mote
Affordable, challenging and fun, both the Wii version and DS version of Geometry Wars: Galaxies may encourage you to throw some of your own shapes at home- old-school rave style.
