Enhanced forensic analysis
Condemned 2: Bloodshot also sees the return of crime scene investigations, where you need to make a choice from a number of pre-set context sensitive buttons and use a variety of forensic tools to solve and crime before recorded your evidence for further examination at the FBI lab. The original system has been totally scrapped, although the premise still remains the same as you attempt to identify the bodies that you stumble across. The example demonstrated by the Monolith staff may not appear in the final game, but what was shown was a simple example of how the new forensic system will work. On stumbling across a dead body lying on the floor in a pool of blood we were told we had to find three pieces of evidence in order to identify him. We zoomed in on the dead body and were then presented with a drop down box with a list of options to choose from. In this scenario we were presented with around six choices from the likes of: business suit, police uniform and chef's outfit. Through examining the body we had to determine the correct answer. In this case it was pretty obvious that the dead guy was wearing a policeman’s uniform. Next up, we examined around the body and zoomed in on the policeman's badge. Once again a drop-down box appeared and we had to choose from a list of numbers. The correct number was visible on the badge, so once again it was a mind-numbingly simple puzzle to solve. Next up, we had to focus on cause of death, examining the leg area where we spotted an open wound. Once again we were presented with a set of options to choose from. Finally, once we’d systematically gone through each step of the examination process, we were prompted to take a photo of the body, by putting the body within the frame of the camera and adjusting the focus so that the picture was clear. Once the picture was taken, the FBI lab informed us that the photo was sufficient. If we would have taken the shot out of focus then we would have been instructed to take the photo again. The forensics example demonstrated was an extremely simple one, bordering on being plain daft in fact, but we were assured that the crime investigation scenes in the final game will require a lot more thought.
In a bid to increase the replay value of Condemned 2: Bloodshot, Monolith will include a multiplayer mode. The defining element of the single player game is melee combat, so it will come as no surprise that it's this fighting element that will evolve online (think FightClub with melee weapons). Unfortunately, no more information was revealed on this mode other than the fact that we'll know more next month.
