What if the Germans had won?

Taking a cue from the ‘alternate universe’ theory, Nicola Haywood fixes her make-up and settles down to preview War Front: Turning Point… Does her bum look big in this?

You’ve very likely seen that show on Channel 4 where the writers postulate on what life would be like today if Germany had managed to defeat the Britain before America entered the war. If you haven’t, it basically examines how Germany could have overrun the UK then taken large lumps of Russia. This would have left the US with little chance of liberating the UK or Europe and they probably would’ve settled for a peace treaty with Germany so they could focus their efforts on the Pacific and the war with Japan.

War Front: Turning Point is a game that takes a similar approach, though how the games creators, Digital Reality, reach their scenarios is slightly more convoluted and, to be honest, a bit farfetched too. But who cares, this is a game after all, so while we’re all happy with blasting aliens or recovering mystic artefacts, it shouldn’t be too much of a struggle to suspend belief and get on the War Front: Turning Point wagon.
