Need for Speed goes MMO
We approached this title with caution. Is it truly possible to create an MMO environment, properly, with car racing in a city? It’s obviously viable, but how to make really it work is a mountain of potential woes. It needs to be Arcade driven for speed and an enjoyable “pick up and playability”. But it needs a large scale city, with a “feel”, a “vibe”. Communication needs to be great between friends, as per a real city with a normal cellphone network, but you also need to be able to meet strangers, and race. It’s got to be simple. And complex.Jean-Charles Gaudechon, Lead Producer is a brave man. We spoke to him about his love of MMO games outside of the driving genre, something we consider critical to make this new title work online seamlessly, and having seen his commitment to making NFSW a proper place to exist, I don’t think the game could be in better hands. He knows what he wants, and he’s making it happen. He has a desire to keep on top of the “goss” on the virtual street, and is watching play testers continually, but also watching WoW and other’s al day too, while he works. He’s keen. His intention is clear: RPG-like progress with a proper social interaction experience.
