A true force feedback racing wheel for the Xbox 360?

GC 2006 So you’ve been happy blasting around the track in PGR3, or perhaps have wreaked revenge in Burnout Revenge, but do you long for a more immersive experience? I don’t know about you, but I do like a wheel for my racing games, but sadly the Xbox 360 can’t do proper force feedback, the best you can hope for is a bit of vibration in your wheel and that’s it.

This bit of kit, the NITRO Racing Wheel, is, claim makers Joytech, the first Xbox 360 wheel to provide force feedback that PC gamers are still enjoying today. Using some fancy electronics built into the wheel, the NITRO Racing Wheel converts the vibration signals sent by the Xbox 360 into proper force feedback reactions giving you’re a far more realistic feel for what’s going on with your on-screen car.

For full functionality, the NITRO Racing Wheel features an Xbox 360 guide button, so you can drop to the blades as normal and navigate using the usual buttons, all of which have been built into the stick. There’s actual four paddles behind the wheel, two digital and two analogue but better than using those for acceleration and braking, just use the pedals instead.[advert]

These have a center mounted pivot, which eases ankle strain as you can rest the full weight of your foot on the pedal and then just press down with your toes when you want to get the car moving… or stopping. In addition to these, there’s a side mounted sequential gear stick for the gamer who isn’t afraid to take a manual car out on the road.

Finally, see those numbers in the centre of the wheel, the 5-5? That’s an indicator of the wheel’s sensitivity setting which is adjustable on the fly, meaning you can have it fairly wooly for when you’re in those god-awful American muscle cars or rack it up (the same as fitting a quick rack to a real car) for when you want something a bit twitchier, such as a rally game.

The NITRO Racing Wheel will be screaming into shops soon.
