A record quarter for Activision
Activision have just announced their financial results for the second fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2007 and are reporting a record year with sales being spurred on by the Guitar Hero and Transformer franchises.Net revenues at the company have totalled $317.7 million, a 69% increase from the same period last year, whilst expenses have grown due to the company's acquisition of Red Octane and Bizarre Creations.
It's no big surprise that Activision have now raised their estimates for the next quarter, to $2 billion, due to the release of the two AAA titles, Guitar Hero III and Call of Duty 4. Early reports from Activision state that Guitar Hero III is their biggest launch game of all time, with 100 million USD being taken in the first seven days of sales. With the launch of Call of Duty 4 tomorrow, Activision will be expecting a very successful fourth quarter.
