Tweaks and more tweaks... and a lot of new stuff
Back in November 2007 I reviewed the The Witcher and caused something of a stir amongst our RPG fans, with a few saying I’d missed the point and that The Witcher, while being less than perfect, was actually a lot better than I gave it credit for. I even went back into the game after publishing the review and I still couldn’t find these nuggets of gold under all the extraneous crap of bugged code, endless traipsing back and forth over well trodden ground, school titillation of shagging female NPCs and anachronous modern dialogue in a medieval game setting. And now, whilst hugely resisting the urge to say ‘I told you so’ and then slap my bum-cheeks in a big hairy moon to The Witcher fans, I bring you details of the ‘Enhanced Edition’ of The Witcher which is due out in September. And once you’ve read what the enhancements are, you’ll see that I was bloody well right all a-bloody-long.
“The Witcher: Enhanced Edition brings the game even closer to perfection with a number of technical and visual improvements jammed into the value-packed retail box. The enhancements introduced in this version include more than 5000 lines of re-written and re-recorded dialogue, more than 200 new dialogue animations, a new character differentiation system for NPCs, an enhanced inventory with improved alchemy, reduced loading times, improved combat responsiveness and much more.”
So basically it’ a great big bug fix and game update… there’s more on the next page.
