Attracting Worldwide attention
With such a great facility it’s no wonder that the World’s press had descended on the Home Of Chrome, for the launch event. Indeed, not only were there press representatives from across Europe and the U.S, there were a number of professional gamers, including Karl "fooKi" Johansson of Sweden, a regular visitor to the house, James “TooGood” Harding, from the U.K, and Sujoy Roy, whose returning to the pro gaming scene after becoming the U.K’s first professional gamer back in 2000. The Home of Chrome is attracting Worldwide attention from gamers hoping to train in an environment where they can share tactics with great players, they’ve even had a visit from China’s number 1 player!
Unfortunately HEXUS.gaming didn’t fair well in the press tournament, finishing last in a Quake IV death match, hey I’d never played the damn game before! Even after a few minutes of playing it was clear how this sort of environment will be an asset to any visiting gamer. Liefje was helping me with tactics, telling me which weapons to use, and generally offering me a guiding hand throughout the match, okay the tips didn’t work but that was probably the numerous delicious cocktails that I’d sunk.
The Girlz of Destruction are experienced enough to guide even the most hardened Quake IV gamer, in fact Missy, Ms.X and Trito placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in Ms Quakecon 2005, netting themselves a bag full of cash! Check out our previous feature on the team for more info on their achievements.
Unlike a number of pro gaming teams, the girlz of Destruction were not manufactured, they were friends first and foremost with a passion for gaming. It was their vision and commitment that led to them being sponsored by VIA and S3 graphics, and progressed to moving in together to concentrate on their professional gaming careers. The time spent training together has helped to secure numerous accolades both for the team and individually, just check out their achievement’s list , and has also pushed Missy into the Top 100 of the GGL rankings. They currently spend around 5 hours a day training together.
If you doubt their commitment to gaming, just check out Ms.X’s Quake III tattoo! Ouch!
