Boom, boom Bass

 Creative GigaWorks T20

Thinking about the pair again, the look and build quality of the T-20s is first class, and the sound isn’t bad either.

The cone driver on the T-20 is accompanied by a simple cloth dome tweeter that results in a very crisp sound quality, tested through a SoundBlaster soundcard as well as a Creative Zen Micro Photo MP3 player.

Up top the T-20’s feature one more piece of sound goodness, with BasXPort™ technology channelling the lower mid-range through the inner chamber and out of the top-mounted bass ports. The T-20s do tend to carry a bit too much bass at first, so it may take a little while for you to get them speakers configured how you want them, but when you do they really are very capable when evaluated at the £60 price point.

Without this technology in action (it’s a very scientific test, placing both hands over the openings on the tops of the speakers) they sound like the sort of things you get free with a packet of Frosties®.
