Where to go
Chip-maker LSI has come up with a Christmas buying guide to DVD recorders. Our guess, though - and LSI will doubtless shoot us down if we're wrong - is that the guide doesn't give the sort of impartial advice would-be buyers really need but, instead, is a novel promotional tool, for the company and the consumer electronics firms that incorporate its integrated circuits.
The guide does contain a few useful thoughts and the only real screamer we noticed (perhaps you'll see others) was this line,
IEEE-1394 is the standard
interface on digital camcorders and provides
the highest quality when transferring camcorder video to DVDs
This statement suggests to us that whoever wrote the guide didn't know about uptake of DVD-based camcorders or that these models generally use USB. Either that or these facts were just a little too inconvenient to mention.
Whatever the case, the guide - TOP DVD TIPS FOR A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS - can be read over on page two.
However, the real reason for telling you about it is to pose two questions:
* What hi-tech goodies are
you thinking of treating yourself (or someone else) to at Christmas?
* How can we help you make the right decisions?
* How can we help you make the right decisions?
Tell us what you need to know over in this thread in the HEXUS.lifestyle.news forum and - between HEXUS.lifestyle and our hugely-knowledgeable forum members - we'll surely be able to give you the advice you need.
See you over there!
