Welsh police have put together a video it hopes will be help deter drivers from texting whilst behind the wheel.

The video, created by Peter Watkins-Hughes and starring young Welsh teenagers, graphically highlights the consequences of using mobile phones whilst driving. Welsh police hope the short film, which is not too dissimilar to advertisements from the government's Think! campaign, will be shown in schools throughout the UK.

A recent survey of over 2,000 Facebook users found that 45 per cent of UK motorists admitted to texting whilst driving. The Transport Research Laboratory, who carried out the survey, later conducted a study that revealed reaction times among drivers aged 17-24 were around 35 per cent slower when writing a text message. The research concluded that "when texting, a driver may present a greater accident risk than when at the legal limit for alcohol consumption or when under the influence of cannabis".

Graphic. It is a fools game though so the consequences should be known.

I like how the driver is alive though, really sends the message home.
Good. As a lawyer dealing with this kind of thing, I don't think they can get too graphic, and as staffsMike says, it's helps drive it home.
Pretty shocking but not a bad thing methinks !
I hate it when you see people doing stuff on their phone when they are int he car, calling is bad enough but texting… are you actually serious. How can people think they are so multitalented that they can safely do that its just a complete joke. People need to learn some patience and common sense.
Nasty… I get shivers when the girl screams :(
