$1,695 for a warm car? It's a tough choice
Personally, I'd rather freeze and suffer a slow-chilling death than spend $1,695 on the Webasto Thermo Top E Parking Heater, a gadget that will remotely warm your car up for you. But, it's nice to have the option nonetheless.
So, what makes this Webasto heater so expensive compared to the already available radio-controlled engine starters? Well, that's precisely it; the Webasto heater won't actually start your engine. It'll just use a tiny amount of fuel to heat your car and in order to add that extra touch of gadgety-ness, it can be activated by voice, SMS, or timer. Funky eh? I can just see myself opening my bedroom window in the mornings and shouting down to the car "WARM UP PLEASE!".
It sounds like a good idea in theory, and we all love toasty-warm cars on a frosty morning. Unfortunately, the Webasto heater doesn't make much sense at all. Yes it uses very little fuel, so it might in the long term save you some money. But, the fact that it costs $1,695 to start with kinda puts a spanner in the works. I think I'll just stick to wearing gloves and a scarf.
