Evesham Technology is introducing a five-strong family of sets to its LCD TV line-up, with each Alqemi-series model reckoned to offer more features than is usual at its price point - and these range from £499 to £1,399 (inc VAT and delivery). Installation - table or wall-mounting - isn't included but is available as an extra.
All are HD Ready and come as standard with a wall bracket and a three-year at-home swap-out warranty. As is usual with lower-priced LCD models, the sets offer WXGA resolution of 1366x768, rather than full 1920x1080.
Other shared features take in a VGA PC input (D-Sub) and five AV inputs. There's a single HDMI port, plus two fully-implemented Scart sockets, one S-video socket and phonos for component video.
Also on the list are a 1000-page teletext memory store and a 10W stereo speaker to left and right of the screen. On the picture side, the sets are
claimed to have a contrast ratio of 1200:1 and offer brightness of 500cd/m2, an 8ms response time and viewing angles of 178 degrees horizontal and vertical
Baby of the new range is the 32in Alqemi 32, at £499 - the only one of the five to have a single analogue tuner, rather than one analogue and one Freeview digital.
Next up, at £599, is the twin-tuner Alqemi 32sx - similarly-spec'd but, like the rest of the higher-ups, with added virtual Dolby Surround Sound. This one - Evesham says - is expected to be the big seller in the range.

Move up a size and the range offers two 37in models, the £899 Alqemi 37sx, with all the features of the 32sx, and the £799 Alqemi 37s, which lacks virtual Dolby. Top of the new tree is a 42-incher, the Alqemi 42sx, with the same features as the other sx models and a price-ticket of £1,399.
