103in press release
PANASONIC BRINGING 103-INCH
PROFESSIONAL PLASMA DISPLAY TO MARKET
World's Largest High Definition Display to Be Available in Fourth Quarter
Panasonic announces its much-anticipated 103-inch diagonal high definition panel, the TH103PF9EK monitor, will be available before Christmas of this year
The TH-103PF9 provides stunning widescreen progressive display featuring full HD pixel resolution of 1,920 horizontal x 1,080 vertical, a contrast ratio of 5,000:1, and 4,096 equivalent steps of gradation. Its effective display area is approximately 89" wide by 50" high. The super-size 103" 1080p panel is equivalent in size to four 50-inch Panasonic plasma displays.
With industry-leading 16-bit color reproduction, the TH-103PF9 is designed to produce breathtaking-quality images and features a Super Cinema Mode and new image-enhancing technologies to reproduce crisp, film-like motion and still images in native 1920 x 1080 progressive resolution.
Its new Real Black Creation color-enhancing feature produces high-contrast and rich, deep blacks resulting in an impressively high contrast level (5,000:1).
Included in its outstanding features are a Contrast Management system that optimizes the contrast for each individual portion of the image displayed and a high-precision Motion Pattern Noise Reduction circuit that adjusts the image to optimize picture quality by detecting motion patterns that generate noise.
The TH-103PF9 is similar to Panasonic's highly-popular 65", 50", 42" and 37" professional plasma models in that it includes multi-function slots (in the back panel) to allow users to easily add and update their panel with different combinations of optional boards to meet practically any application.
The 103" model has three interchangeable slots and comes standard with the TY-FB9DD DVI board (compatible with UXGA input), TY-42TM6A analog component board, an integrated D-sub15 PC input, and an integrated D-sub9 RS232C interface.
Optional plug-in boards assure expanded connectivity, including 10-bit HD-SDI and DVI, as well as advanced monitor control, networking, running of internal applications and data storage, and remote signal playback.
The TH-103PF9 can display 1080/60p/50p, 1080/60i/50i/24p/24sF/25p/30p, 1080/50i, 720/60p/50p 480/60i/p, and 575/50i/p video signals.
Its Advanced Dual Picture Mode allows professional users to combine video and audio clips with textual information from a computer in three different modes (two picture-in-picture and one picture-out-picture modes) to create stunning visual presentations. Its power requirement is 240V AC 60/50Hz.
The super-large plasma features a new, built-in image-enlarging function for use in creating powerful multi-screen display systems. This function allows users to enlarge images up to four times vertically and horizontally.
Full screen images over a large custom video wall will maintain their image quality and text visibility even across display edges, keeping words from being hidden by the panels' frame. The panel can be mounted either horizontally or vertically.
