Squeezebox Radio
Logitech has today announced two new additions to its Squeezebox line of network music players in the form of the Squeezebox Radio and the Squeezebox Touch.
The latter, pictured below, is a Wi-Fi music player that allows access to the hundreds of stations available on Internet radio, as well as web-based music services such as Rhapsody, Slacker and Pandora. The device, measuring 130mm x 220mm x 85mm, features a 2/4in soft-dome tweeter and a 3in long-throw woofer, allowing for use without the need for external speakers.
In addition to access to Internet stations, the Squeezebox Radio will play your personal music collection from a Windows, Mac or Linux PC - with initial support for MP3, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, and Apple Lossless audio formats.
There's a 2.4in colour LCD display that'll show album art, track/station information, visualisers and more, and the device can be networked with other Squeezebox products to create a whole home audio experience. New to the device is Logitech's "App Gallery" - featuring applications that provide access to social-networking websites such as Facebook and Flickr, allowing for status updates and photo slide shows.
Looks like a promising solution, but we'd liked to have seen a DAB tuner built-in, too. Nonetheless, if Internet radio fits the bill, the Squeezebox Radio will be shipping this month with an RRP of Ā£159.
If you're hoping for something a little more flashy, there's the Logitech Squeezebox Touch...
