Gaming heaven

Microsoft Xbox 360

Microsoft's hugely-popular console continues to be a front-runner for favourite Christmas presents. It could have made our lists back in '05, '06 and '07, but here it is again, now with a tastier-than-ever asking price beginning at £129.99.

There's now a huge catalogue of highly-rated games, a class-leading online experience, and recent hardware revisions that should bring an end to the dreaded red ring of death.

Guitar Hero World Tour

Speaking of highly-rated games, how about one that's ideal for a Christmas party? Guitar Hero World Tour could be just what you'll need to entertain a crowd, and with a setlist featuring the likes of The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen and Michael Jackson, there's plenty to rock out too.

The complete band bundle - featuring a wireless guitar, drum-kit and microphone - costs around £130. It's an expensive prospect, but seeing as it's Christmas, this one's top of my gaming wish list.
